New Car Deals for October 2011: Subcompact Cars

Gas prices and a bad economy are making the smallest rides on the road more popular than at any time in recent history.  For evidence, look no further than the continuing lack of substantive incentives in this category. Chevy is still offering a good deal of money to help dealers rid themselves of the now-discontinued Aveo. However, even with what amounts to a deep price reduction, we think most buyers would be happier with its replacement, the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. It’s a far better car in virtually every aspect, and while the old Aveo may be more affordable, the Sonic, too, is subject to cut-rate financing this month. The Suzuki SX4, like most of that automaker’s products, is largely overlooked but is worth consideration, especially its all-wheel-drive Crossover hatchback model. Otherwise, the peppy and perky Ford Fiesta is the other top choice among subcompacts on our October Best Deals list.
